Abel Tasman NP: Anapai Beach
Highlight of our trip to Golden Bay was driving all the way in to the Totaranui campground and walking over the hill to Anapai Beach. A short one hour walk, suitable for the whole family, that leads to a quiet yet outstanding spot in the park.

Wharariki Beach
I think we’ll never get tired of this place. One of the most picturesque beaches of NZ. Accessible only on foot across sheep paddocks and white sand dunes.
-

Ngarua Caves, Pupu Springs, The Grove
We’ll spend a few days in Golden Bay, showing Oma some traveller highlights that lie within a stone’s throw of our home. Our itinerary for the day includes:
-

Three months old
This boy is getting more cute by the day. He rewards us with his big eyes and wide smiles.
-

Abel Tasman NP: Achorage
Today we’re heading out to Achorage, the first stop of the Sea Shuttle in the park. Everyone is onboard, including Oma and big sister.
-

Two months old
Oh boy. From 4 to 6 kg in less than two months. The newborn stage is clearly over and we’re experiencing an increasingly interactive baby, yay! Newly acquired skills: Smiles and giggles, especially in the mornings; Fast head turns from left to right and back; grabbing things with the hands; and more.

Actual fir trees are close to impossible to get here and even if, they have hanging tips of new season growth within hours and just look sad. Artificial trees mostly look…

Elf on the shelf
Each night, after the children are asleep, the elf flies to the North Pole to report on the day’s activities to Santa. The elf returns before the children wake up and hides in a new spot around the house, leading to a daily morning game of discovery. In our case, the elf tells which calendar…

One month old
Summer is here. It’s warm and humid lately, with brief rainfalls every now and then. Baby G. has grown out of the newborn nappies, which we bought a huge box of just a week ago. He makes good use of all the milk that he’s fed and gained about 5 cm in height, as well…

Three weeks old
The week started with a bunch of activities. We enjoyed the first baby bath in the kitchen, followed by Papa’s Schneewittchentorte for his birthday. Then we had a photo session to take a nice shot for baby’s first passport. Soon we can travel again!
