The Koru
Koru is a Māori word meaning “loop” or “coil,” and it refers to the unfurling fern frond, which is a significant symbol in Māori culture. It represents:
- New Beginnings & Growth – The unfurling shape symbolizes development, renewal, and the cycle of life.
- Strength & Resilience – The fern is a strong plant that thrives in Aotearoa’s forests, reflecting endurance and adaptability.
- Harmony & Unity – The circular shape of the koru represents balance, connection, and the idea of returning to one’s roots while moving forward.
